When summer arrives, many families look to sports camps, vacations, or downtime to fill their calendars—but what about music?
At Making Music Vocal Arts (MMVA), we believe that summer is one of the most powerful times for young singers to grow. Without the pressure of homework, tests, and school commitments, students can focus purely on creativity, confidence, and connection—and that’s exactly what our Summer Choral Showcase and Motif Youth Chorale projects offer.
So, why is singing in the summer such a well-kept secret? Let us share:
1. It Keeps Skills Sharp (Without Feeling Like School)
Singers lose momentum over long breaks. MMVA’s summer programs offer an environment that keeps vocal technique, musicality, and ensemble skills alive—without it feeling like school.
2. It Builds Friendships Through Music
There’s something special about forming harmonies and friendships. Whether it’s the shared laughter in warm-ups or the rush of a final performance, our singers often leave with lasting bonds—and a deeper love for music.
3. It’s Creative, Purposeful Fun
Our Summer Choral Showcase theme this year is “Poetry of Summer”—a beautiful collection of songs inspired by nature, love, and the spirit of the season. It’s meaningful, memorable, and entirely unique.
4. It Plants Seeds for the Fall and Beyond
Many of our summer singers go on to audition for Motif Youth Chorale or join MMVA programs during the school year. It’s a great stepping stone into deeper involvement in the arts.
5. Just Passion.
MMVA welcomes all singers entering grades 7–12 to join us—no audition required for the Summer Showcase. We’re here to nurture curiosity, and a place to grow musically.
Summer isn’t a break from music—it’s an opportunity to fall in love with it all over again.
