Sharp Choices: A New Repertoire Reading Session for Choir Directors
Making Music Vocal Arts is thrilled to announce our upcoming Sharp Choices Repertoire Reading Session on Thursday, September 19th at 6:30 PM at the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center. In collaboration with Hal Leonard, this event will spotlight a selection of brand-new choral publications designed to inspire your ensembles and enrich your programming for the second semester.
Why Attend?
Finding the right music for your choir can be one of the most rewarding—and time-consuming—parts of our work as directors. Sharp Choices is designed to make that process easier, more inspiring, and more collaborative. Together, we’ll explore accessible yet meaningful repertoire for SA, SAB, and SATB ensembles that balances singability with artistic depth through engaging texts, creative topics, and skillful composition.
This session is particularly focused on second-semester programming—the concerts and festivals that take place after January when your singers are ready for new challenges and fresh repertoire.
What’s Included
For just $30, you’ll receive:
12 brand-new octavos you can take home and keep for your own library
An interactive reading session led by conductor, WCDA R&R Chair Youth and Community Rachel Maki, with professional accompanist support.
Over an hour of repertoire exploration with live music-making
A chance to connect and network with other passionate music educators who share your commitment to quality choral literature
Why Sharp Choices?
The idea behind Sharp Choices is simple: directors deserve repertoire that excites both students and audiences, while also strengthening the ensemble’s growth.
