Rachel Maki: Guest Clinician for Schools & Community Choirs in Southeast Wisconsin
As she approaches a decade of serving the choral community in Southeast Wisconsin, Rachel Maki continues to bring energy, artistry, and purpose to every ensemble she leads. Since moving to Milwaukee in July of 2016, Rachel has dedicated herself to strengthening vocal music opportunities for both youth and adults across the region.
For eight years, she served the community through Milwaukee Children’s Choir, including four years as Artistic Director. During that time, she helped shape artistic vision, elevate performance standards, and cultivate meaningful musical experiences for young singers.
In July of 2024, Rachel founded Making Music Vocal Arts (MMVA), an organization rooted in the belief of Singing with Purpose. Through MMVA, she has expanded her work as a guest clinician and conductor, partnering with schools and community organizations throughout Wisconsin.
Over the years, Rachel has been honored to clinic and conduct at numerous respected events, including:
Singing in Wisconsin (Wisconsin Choral Directors Association) – 2016 & 2019
Waukesha Sings – 2024
Nicolet North Shore Vocal & Stage Arts Day – 2022 & 2025
Rock Valley Conference Honors Choir – 2026
District-wide school choral festivals and honors events
She has also served as a guest clinician for individual schools and adult organizations such as:
Whitnall High School – 2026
Jefferson High School – 2025
Badger State Girl Choir (Tour Clinician) – 2025
Philharmonic Chorus of Madison – 2025
Rachel works with both youth and adult singers, bringing thoughtful rehearsal pacing, clear vocal pedagogy, and a deep commitment to storytelling through music. Her rehearsals focus not only on accuracy and blend, but also on artistry, emotional connection, and helping singers understand the why behind the music.
Whether preparing for Solo & Ensemble, honor choir festivals, concert refinement, audition coaching, or special choral events, Rachel brings an encouraging and focused presence to the rehearsal room. She believes that singers of every age deserve to feel capable, confident, and connected — to the music and to one another.
As she nears ten years of choral leadership in Southeast Wisconsin, Rachel looks forward to continuing to support directors, students, and community ensembles with clinics that inspire growth, elevate artistry, and leave singers feeling successful.
If your school or community group is seeking a guest clinician, conductor, or workshop leader, Rachel Maki and Making Music Vocal Arts would love to partner with you.
